The faithful readers of the Coquille Valley Sentinel were so touched by our “Big Boy” story that the phones have been ringing non-stop, and with the help of private donations and the generosity of F.A.W.N. (Friends of Animals With Needs) $1,500 of the $3,000 needed for the surgery has already been raised. Oregon State University will be performing the surgery on “Big Boy” and they require that $1,500 be paid prior to the scheduling of the surgery, which has been the goal at hand. If all goes well and Big Boy’s health doesn’t rapidly deteriorate, owner Justin Arriola, is hopeful that he will be able to go ahead and schedule the appointment for Big Boy’s surgery within the next couple of weeks. According to Justin, “The outpouring of support by the community has been overwhelming.”
