    Library Seeks Holiday Vendors

    Myrtle Point Public Library will hold its second annual Holiday Bazaar on November 14th. Chairman Kathy Phillips is seeking vendors who would like to purchase table space. The cost is $20 for a six-foot space, with tables and chairs provided. The Bazaar features handmade art, crafts and food, and will once again be held at the OSU Extension Office in Myrtle Point. Space is limited to 15 tables. Vendors seeking information or registration forms should contact Phillips at 572-2198.

    Greenacres Barn Dance

    Willow Creek, a group of talented musicians from Bandon, will play for the October 17th Barn Dance in Greenacres. The South Coast Folk Society invites all to attend an evening of lively social dancing at the Grange Hall beginning at 7 p.m. Newcomers are welcome, and no experience is necessary. The dance is open to the public and is appropriate for singles, couples and families. Basic instruction for all steps and figures will be given by the popular caller, Karen Olsen of Myrtle Point. Karen’s excellent calling makes dancing fun and easy. Willow Creek will be on stage for three hours of dancing enjoyment, and the fine wood floor of the Greenacres Grange Hall has room for many dancers. There will be a brief break with light refreshments available. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., and lessons begin at 7 p.m. The Greenacres Grange Hall is located at 93393 Greenacres Lane, just seven miles south of Coos Bay. The atmosphere at the Grange is relaxed, and admission is only $6. Students, seniors, and first time barn dancers pay $5, and accompanied children under six are free.     County dump truck takes a tumble


    On Monday, September 28th a Coos County dump truck tipped over and crashed when its raised box got tangled in wires outside the county shop in Coquille. Coquille police responded to the 1300 block of West Central Boulevard, where the truck had crashed and was blocking traffic. The driver, Alvin Stibitz, 65, of Myrtle Point, was headed to the Beaver Hill cutoff to help with a paving project when the accident occurred. Stibitz was treated for some scratches by medics at the crash scene, but was otherwise unharmed. A power pole was damaged during the accident, but there were no reported outages.

    Welcome Mom-To-Mom

    Come and join Mom-To- Mom group as we meet together to help encourage, educate and equip each other for this most important task called Motherhood. This group is based on Titus 2:3-5 and available in our group will be women we affectionately call, “Titus 2 Women“ who are “real” moms who aren’t perfect ... but love the Lord, see Him in their parenting and wife roles, and are just a little farther down the road than some of the rest of us. Debbie Dorland leads our Kid to Kid program for preschool, age 3-5 years old, with Bible stories, crafts, songs and more. We will meet every Wednesday morning starting October 7th at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 282 West 6th St. in Coquille. Also, back this year is “Special Wednesdays” which includes cooking demos, special speakers, and other surprises and fun!
