Coquille High School’s Spike Leslie Field received a much needed new sound
system thanks to the generosity of the Coquille Lion’s Club. Both the high
school and the middle school will be able to use the system during their
events. The Lions Club president, Curtis Jack, presented athletic director, Dan
Cumberland, with a check during the recent twilight track meet. The amount of
the donation is $3,379.29. Much of the funds came from Lion Burger sales at
the Coos County Fair. Curtis said this project was one way to help the community
that supports them. In addition, the club helps with eyeglasses and
hearing aids. Anyone interested in finding out more about the Coquille Lions
Club is invited to drop by their monthly meetings on the second Monday of
every month at Mr. Zack’s at 6 p.m.
