On the afternoon of June  24th, after a two day jury  trial presided over by Judge  Martin Stone, a Coos  County jury found former  Coos Bay resident Thomas  Harrison Wilson, age 34,  guilty of three counts of  Rape in the First Degree.  One count that Mr. Wilson  was found guilty of alleged  that Mr. Wilson forcibly  raped a 16 year-old girl in  1999 on property associated  with Mr. Wilson on South  Coos River Lane.

The girl  was an acquaintance of Mr.  Wilson.  The other two counts
that  Mr. Wilson was found guilty  of alleged that in 2003 Mr.  Wilson forcibly raped a different  16 year-old girl on  two different occasions on  the South Coos River Lane  property. This girl was a distant  family member of Mr.  Wilson’s wife and had been  living on the South Coos  River Lane property.  The jury found Mr.  Wilson not guilty of two  additional counts of Rape in  the First Degree that related  to the second victim in  2003.  First-degree rape is covered  by the Measure 11 sentencing  initiative. The law  decrees a mandatory minimum  sentence of eight years  and four months in prison  per count.  A sentencing hearing is set  for 9 a.m. Friday in Stone’s  courtroom.
