Coos County Clerk, Terri Turi  Commissioner Kevin Stufflebean has submitted  a Statement of Justification in response to the  Recall Petition filed by Citizens for a Fair and  Open Government.

A recall election will be held on May 5, 2009.  Ballots will be mailed to all active military, out of  country, and out of state voters on Friday, April  3rd. The in-county mailing of Recall ballots will  be on Friday, April 17th.  The Special District Election of May 19, 2009  will be underway during the same time period  with the in-county mailing of those ballots scheduled  for Friday, May 1st.

Because of these mailing dates, there is potential  that voters may have both ballots
for these two  elections at the same time. It is imperative that  voters use the appropriate, corresponding return  envelope with the appropriate, corresponding ballot.

• The Recall Election materials will be color  coded – with a blue stripe on the ballot itself and a  blue voter information mailing label on the return  envelope.

• The Special District Election will have the  standard white ballot with white mailing label.

• Voters must not use one envelope for  both ballots….these are two different elections!  Separate return envelopes with the  corresponding ballot are required in order  for the votes to be counted.

• Voters may deposit both ballots at the  same drop box.  For questions/concerns, please call the election  office at 541-396-3121 ext. 301
