			<title><![CDATA[Albert “Bud” Montague Menning]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[At his request, no services  will be held for Albert  “Bud” Montague Menning,  87, of Coquille.<br/><br/>Bud was born June 24,  1921 in Pasadena,  California, to Ralph and  Dollie (Montague) Menning.  He died March 15, 2009 in  Coquille.  Bud served in the Navy  during World War II. He  owned and operated  Coquille Auto for many  years.<br/><br/>Bud is survived by his  son, James Menning of  Coquille; daughter, Pamala  Jennings of Bandon; son  Joseph Menning of  Vancouver, Washington;  daughter, Nancy Gates of  Portland; grandchildren,  Rodney, Ralph, Jimmie and  Monty Menning, David and  Richard Jennings and  Shawn Menning; numerous  great grandchildren and sister,  Rachel Huisken of Seal  Beach, California.  The family suggests  memorial contributions be  made to South Coast  Hospice, 1610 Thompson  Rd., Coos Bay, OR 97420 or  The American Cancer  Society of Oregon, 31 West  6th St., Medford, OR 97501.  Arrangements are under  the direction of Myrtle  Grove Funeral Service, 396-  3158.<br/>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[Preston Monroe Swindall<br/>September 10, 1917 – March 28, 2009<br/><br/>Preston Monroe Swindall,  91, of Coquille died March  0, 2009. A memorial service  will be held Friday,  March 27th at 1:00 p.m. at  St. James Episcopal Church  in Coquille.<br/><br/>Monroe was born  September 10, 1917 in a  logging camp near Coquille  to “Pressie” and Leona  (Lane) Swindall. He was a  lifelong resident of Coquille,  graduating from Coquille  High School in 1936. He  married Mary Edna Lorenz  December 30, 1937.<br/><br/>He was employed many  years by Purkey Furniture in  Coquille as a carpet layer.  In later years he become  self-employed, laying floor  coverings and counter tops.  He and his son operated the  Coquille LaundroMac until  the mid 1990’s.  His survivors include his  children and their spouses,  Barbara and OJ Endicott,  Michael and Cindy  Swindall; five grandchildren,  Allison, Michelle,  Matthew, Sarah and Scott;  eight great grandchildren  and six great great grandchildren.<br/><br/>He was preceded in death  by his wife, his parents and  sister, Virginia Kyhn.  Memorial donations may  be made to South Coast  Hospice, 1620 Thompson  Road, Coos Bay, OR 97420  Arrangements are under  the direction of Myrtle  Grove Funeral Service, 396-  3158.<br/>]]></description>

Conover<br/>October 2,1939 - March 19, 2009<br/><br/>Phyllis I. Conover, 69 of  Coquille, formerly of  Paxton, Illionis passed away  on March 19, 2009 at her  home in Coquille after a  long battle with Diabetes  and Heart Disease.<br/><br/>Phyllis was the 7th of 13  children born to Charles and  Irene Arnold on October 2,  1939 in Fairbury, Illinois.  She spent the majority of  her life in Paxton.  She married Russell  Conover on May 10, 1958  and after his death in 1994  she moved to Coquille to be  closer to her sister, Judy  Smith. She was preceded in  death by her parents, her  husband Russell; sister  Kathryn and brother Keith.<br/><br/>She is survived by 10 siblings:  Robert Arnold,  Layton, Utah; Eddie Arnold,  Paxton, Illinois; Roger  Arnold, Roseburg, Oregon;  Darrell Arnold, Rantoul,  Illinois; Gary Arnold,  Colorado Springs, Colorado;  Evelyn Evan, Roswell, New  Mexico; Sharron Kay,  Roswell, New Mexico;  Karyol Wier, Meadville,  Pennsylvania; Darlene  Parra, Gustine, California  and Judy Smith of Coquille,  Oregon. Many nieces and  nephews that she claimed as  her own.  Services will be held at  the New Horizon Church of  God in Coquille on March  28, 2009 at 12:00 Noon. All  are welcome. Pastor Vernon  Pruitt will be presiding.  Memorials can be made to  the Coquille Fire  Department. We love our  team. Her favorite firefighter  was Shawn. She made  many trips to the hospital  with him at her side.<br/>]]></description>

Knudsen<br/>July 11, 1915 – March 14, 2009 <br/><br/>Private Family Services  will be held at a later date  for Georgia E. Knudsen, 93  of Coquille.<br/><br/>Georgia was born on July  11, 1915 in Almont, North  Dakota to Roy and Lena  (Lies) Williams. She died  March 14, 2009 in Myrtle  Point.  She married Leo Gunther  in 1936 in Colfax, CA. He  preceded her in death in  1976. She married Russell  Knudsen in 1983 in  Paradise, CA. He also preceded  her in death in 1998.  After Russell’s death, she  moved to Coquille. She  attended Holy Name  Catholic Church, a master  gardener and a S.M.A.R.T.<br/><br/>Reader until her health  forced her to give up these  activities.  Georgia is survived by her  sons; Leo Gunther and his  wife Anita of Chico, CA;  Dan Gunther and his wife  Marilyn of Aloha, OR;  daughters, Barbara Svanevik  and her husband Lars, of  Klamath Falls; Eileen  Gunther of Coquille and  Louise Moore and her husband  Bill of Bandon. She  has seven grandchildren and  15 great grandchildren.  Georgia was preceded in  death by her two husbands;  Leo Gunther and Russell  Knudsen; four sisters and  two brothers.<br/><br/>Arrangements are under  the direction of  Amling/Schroeder Funeral  Service – Coquille<br/>]]></description>

Report of an unattended death at neighbor’s.<br/>Second call from daughter-in-law advised elderly male discovered this morning not breathing<br/>and unconscious. Advised caller declined medical. Medication seized and family is taking<br/>care of removal by Neptune Society. Removal approved.<br/>10:09 a.m. Hwy 42 & Garden Valley Rd. Disabled vehicle. Oregon State Trooper out with the parent of a<br/>missing 8 year-old male - 4 ft tall, straight black hair, last seen wearing T-shirt and blue<br/>jeans. Child located prior to arrival.<br/>8:29 p.m. Duling Rd. Suspicious conditions. Report of a window wide open at reporter’s<br/>mother’s house. Possible theft of dogs.<br/>11:04 p.m. Coos Sumner/Hwy 101. Driving complaint. White older vehicle, possibly a<br/>Buick, almost hit reporter’s vehicle coming off Hwy 101. Making contact with suspect from Criminal<br/>Mischief.<br/>12:36 p.m. Hwy 42S. Man down. Report of a homeless person in a box, unknown if the<br/>subject is conscious or breathing. Handled by Bandon Police Department. Subject is fine,<br/>cancelled medical.<br/>1:36 p.m. Duling Rd. Suspicious conditions. Caller wants 2 or 3 officers to protect him at<br/>his house. Reporter advised that someone attempted to gain entry into residence last night.<br/>2:02 p.m. Suba Rd. Shots fired. Subject called the Roseburg VA office and was shooting a<br/>gun inside his residence while on the phone. Unknown female named “Becky” in residence<br/>with him. Subject has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Subject has numerous weapons. contacted<br/>subject and he does not meet the criteria for Mental Hold.<br/>3:41 p.m. Green Acres Ln. Suspicious conditions. Caller reports that two carloads of young<br/>males are in his driveway. One young male has a pistol in his hand. Vehicles are a red Ford<br/>Taurus and a black Toyota pickup. Reporter recalled and said that he knew them and was<br/>going to talk to them, advised deputy not to come.<br/>4:13 p.m. Lost Ln. Caller reports that her husband threatened helper. Attempted phone call<br/>to reporter, no answer. 			<title><![CDATA[Masonic Lodge Spaghetti Dinner]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[The masonic lodge in  Myrtle Point will serve a  spaghetti dinner on  Saturday, March 28th, from  5 to 8 in the evening.  Everyone is welcome!  The dinner is $7 for  adults, and $3.50 for children  older than 5. It’s free  to the little ones. Whatever  your age, you’ll enjoy food  cooked by an Italian from  New Jersey.  The funds from the dinner  will help the lodge meet its  regular expenses, support its  community activities, such  as scholarship contributions,  and restore its building,  which next year will celebrate  its hundreth year.<br/>]]></description>
